MURFREESBORO, TN - New growth is coming to downtown Murfreesboro that will feature residential, office, and retail space at the corner of Broad and South Church Streets. This development, the Keystone Project, will see an adjacent park-like area along Broad Street, between Vine and South Church Streets, which will be across the street from the new mixed-use structure.

Changes in the downtown landscape will feature more green space, while enhancing the area that will serve as a newly improved entrance on the road that leads visitors to the historic courthouse. The future park will include a creek running along Broad Street, accessible to those on foot via a new pedestrian bridge. This bridge will connect the park to the Keystone Project that includes residential and retail space at the corner of Broad and S. Church Streets, making downtown living more attractive to potential residents.
Volunteers and members of Main Street Murfreesboro work together to organize various events in downtown Murfreesboro. One of these events, a collaboration between The Boro Art Crawl and Main Street Murfreesboro, will take place this Friday evening... Busking, another term for street musicians, describes what Karl Wingruber, the leader of Music City Swing, plans to do this Friday evening. A love for music drives Wingruber, who plans to play the saxophone on the downtown square.
Callender said that the music at events like the Friday Night Live Concert Series, held on the first Friday of each month on the square, help to bring people together...
Volunteering to help with a large number of local events and serving as a member of the President’s Cabinet at MTSU, Dr. Gloria Bonner has her fingers on the pulse of Murfreesboro. Dr. Bonner has seen the growth of not only the University, but also the City itself. She suggested events like the free concerts, the Boro Art Crawl and the weekly Saturday Marketplace, all work together to build a feeling of belonging to new residents and longtime residents alike... Dr. Bonner is retired from MTSU, where she was Assistant to the President in the Office of University Community Relations.
In a 2023 study by SmartAsset, Murfreesboro was ranked on the top 25 fastest growing cities list. The study showed Murfreesboro was listed in the 16th position, holding a 5-year growth rate of 19.1%. That growth has been intense as just one year prior in 2022, the City was ranked on the fastest growing “Boomtown” list. The 2022 study by SmartAssett, a financial technology company, showed Murfreesboro was ranked as the number 3 "Boomtown" in America. Their study showed the City had a 15% new business growth rate year-after-year and a 31% growth in housing for 2022.
MORE on FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE: While the June concert has already taken place, there are a lot more concerts to come. On July 5, 2024, the stage will be set for The O'Donnell's to perform a full country music set. On August 2nd, the Nashville Alternators will hit the stage to play music from the 1980's and '90's. On September 20th will include a little R & B as Bizz and Everyday People play tunes in front of the county courthouse.
The Friday Night Live concert series is presented by Wilson Bank and Trust. Main Street said in a release, they are thankful for the many supporting sponsors of this series including Uncle Nearest, MTSU, Murfreesboro Nissan, Murfreesboro Eye Center, Rutherford Convention and Visitors Bureau, and grants from the Community Foundation and TN Arts Commission.
