MURFREESBORO, TN - Severe flooding in Murfreesboro prompted the complete closure of all Greenway trails earlier in the week, according to the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department. The decision came after rising water levels rendered the trails unsafe for visitors. Expressing concerns over the hazardous conditions, park staff previously emphasized the need for people to refrain from accessing the Greenway areas.

Directly after the storms, Executive Director of Recreation Services Nate Williams said, “It’s imperative that people stay off the Greenway trails at this time. There are many areas of rushing water and fallen limbs and it can quickly turn into a dangerous situation."

Since the first closure, efforts to assess and mitigate the damage caused by the flooding began, with the Parks and Recreation Department working to restore the Greenway trails to a safe condition for public use.

The Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation staff will be working throughout the weekend to reopen and clean the local Greenway trails after the flooding that took place over the past week. Parks officials stated, “Please be mindful of our staff and their equipment as we work quickly to have the Greenway trails restored for the upcoming weekend.”

All roads listed below (LINK) have re-opened now that high water has receded. 805 Bradyville Pike remains closed.
