MURFREESBORO, TN – As shoplifting remains a problem, retail workers continue to see what some may call stunning displays of daring thievery, or perhaps what could be more accurately described as a blatant disregard of other peoples property. Currently, Murfreesboro detectives are engaged in a thrilling game of cat and mouse, pursuing at least two elusive individuals believed to be behind a string of shoplifting escapades that left local businesses reeling. The suspects, described only as a man and a woman, have yet to be apprehended or even positively identified.

The duo's crime spree on April 11, 2024 targeted Murfreesboro's retail landscape with surgical precision, focusing their sticky-fingered efforts on merchandise from reputable establishments. Bed & Body Works, a popular stopping point for aromatic delights, was hit twice in quick succession. Reports indicate that whopping $1,600 worth of scented candles and lotions vanished into thin air during the audacious back-to-back thefts. Again, $1,600 worth of candles and lotions - - allegedly stolen.

But the thieves' appetite for ill-gotten goods didn't stop there. Murfreesboro Police suspect there was a related incident at Sephora, a haven for beauty enthusiasts. The store located in The Avenue fell victim to the dynamic duo antics, with a haul of fragrances worth $500. Expensive perfumes were whisked away under their noses. Detective Ed Gorham is leading the investigation and has asked the public for help identifying the two, urging anyone with knowledge of the suspects' whereabouts to come forward.

The Murfreesboro Police Department says that Detective Gorham can be reached by dialing 629-201-5507 or via email at 0300@murfreesborotn.gov.
