Smyrna, Tennessee – The Every Kid Is a Hero Foundation will be holding an Every Kid Is a Hero Day event at Stewarts Creek High School in Smyrna on April 10, 2024.
Every Kid Is a Hero Day is an event organized by the Every Kid Is a Hero Foundation. The foundation works alongside school districts to celebrate the students of special education classrooms, complete with superhero games, music, parades and tons of surprises. Each student involved with the event also receives their very own custom comic book that features their face, name and medical assist devices, if they use any. Special education students from all Rutherford County high schools will be included in the event.
“We are very excited about bringing our program to Smyrna,” says Britt Maxwell, founder and president of the Every Kid Is a Hero Foundation. “We can’t wait for the students and teachers of Rutherford County to experience the unique brand of fun and encouragement that Every Kid Is a Hero Day brings.”
Previously, the Every Kid Is a Hero Foundation has held events alongside Sumner County Schools where they have created custom comic books for hundreds of high school special education students. The foundation has also used previous events to raise $5,000 for Sumner County special education teachers that can be used in each teacher’s classroom for the resources that their students need.
“Being able to donate and fundraise to help the special needs children of Rutherford County is highly rewarding,” says Every Kid Is a Hero Foundation Board Secretary Lee Colvin. “It can be trying to ask individuals and corporations for money, but when you see the smiles on the faces of the employees in the schools system that help these children, you know that you are doing the right thing in your community.”
The Every Kid Is a Hero Foundation is a non-profit organization that creates one-of-a-kind custom adventures, featuring the reader’s face and name. These incredible custom comic books are not just awesome stories with cool art, but they also teach important lessons about believing in yourself, never giving up, and never forgetting that every person is special. Each comic is written by Every Kid Is a Hero Foundation President Britt Maxwell and Vice-President Drew Van Huss and illustrated by independent artist Matthew Walden.
The purpose of the Every Kid Is a Hero Foundation is to raise awareness for the special education community, provide recognition and inspiration to deserving students who receive special education curriculum, and most of all, to raise funds to help special education teachers do their jobs with more resources.
