(MURFREESBORO)  The City's high-technology Crime Center will enable Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) to impact the community's most troublesome and dangerous issues. To get a better understanding of what those issues are, Chief Michael Bowen was asked what crime he would most like to see reduced here . . .

How will the Crime Center help Murfreesboro Police the most . . .

Looking at the crime technology systems that will soon be a part of Murfreesboro's Crime Center, Chief Bowen gives a "time line" of what is here and items that are being installed . . .

Chief Bowen explained that LPR technology (License Plate Readers) is now operational. The "Shots Fired" analyzers that determine whether a sound is a gunshot, firecrackers or another source--those will be working by this summer. 

He noted that the MPD staff is also on a tight schedule to complete its application for Governor Lee's CRIME GRANT.  

These State of Tennessee grants are underwritten by the Violent Crime Intervention Fund and law enforcement agencies are able to apply for grants that will be used to strengthen public safety in communities across Tennessee.
