Several Middle Tennessee State University alumni achieved success at the 66th annual Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, Feb. 4.
Julien Baker, a 2019 English graduate, was part of the indie supergroup boygenius and captured three Grammys out of five nominations. The group won for Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, and Best Alternative Music Album.
Lecrae, a two-time Grammy winner and alumnus, earned two more Grammys for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song and Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.
Jason Hall, a 2000 Recording Industry graduate, and Jimmy Mansfield, a 2014 audio production graduate, won for their engineering, mixing, and vocals work on Lainey Wilson’s “Bell Bottom Country,” which won Best Country Album.
Josh Kear, a 1996 History graduate with a Recording Industry minor, contributed to Wilson’s nominated project “Bell Bottom Country” as a composer for the song “Watermelon Moonshine.”
Other MTSU alumni Grammy nominees for 2024 include Brandon Bell, a 2004 Recording Industry graduate, Tony Castle, a 1995 Recording Industry graduate. Tay Keith, a 2018 integrated studies and media management graduate, and Randy LeRoy, who attended MTSU through 1991.
