Murfreesboro, TN - In a swift response to an emergency call, Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) firefighters successfully contained a fire that erupted in the attached garage of a residence on Butterfly Bend near Florence Road on Thursday, Jan. 11.
The incident unfolded at approximately 8:49 p.m., with fire crews arriving within four minutes of receiving the distress call. The garage was already engulfed in flames when responders reached the scene. Despite the intensity of the fire, firefighters worked efficiently to ensure the safe evacuation of the home's residents, a family of three that included a disabled man. The resilience and swift action of the emergency responders undoubtedly averted a more catastrophic outcome for the Butterfly Bend residents.
The MFRD crews, comprising personnel from Engine 5, Engine 7, Engine 9, Ladder 11, Rescue 11, Safety 1, Safety 2, Battalion Chief 1, and Battalion Chief 2, quickly secured the area and initiated firefighting operations to suppress the blaze. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
Regrettably, the attached garage sustained heavy damage, rendering the home temporarily uninhabitable. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the MFRD Fire Marshal’s Office, as they work to determine the possible factors that led to the blaze.
The Heart of Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross has stepped in to assist the affected family during this challenging time. Their support will aid the family in recovering and rebuilding after the devastating incident.
