While snow lovers are anticipating the possibly of the "white stuff" next week, an even bigger story will be the arctic cold that will settle in. And it won't be just a glancing blow. Temperatures will remain in the deep freeze for the entire week.
BRYAN BARRETT HAS DETAILS ON THE ARCTIC BLAST HEADED OUR WAY.
The National Weather Service Office in Nashville posted confidence is high that we will have multiple, consecutive days of sub-freezing temperatures.
While temperatures may get just above freezing by mid-week, reinforcing cold shots will continue. It looks like it will be Monday, January 22nd, before temperatures moderate some.
Experts say get ready now for the very cold temperatures. Be ready to dress in layers.
Make sure your HVAC unit is in the best shape possible. Clean debris from the outside unit and change filters because it will have to work overtime to keep you warm.
Most people will also stock up on food - the traditional milk and bread run!
Also, you should make sure all of your pipes are wrapped and outside facets covered. Plan to leave cabinet doors open to allow in some heat and drip the water to keep it from freezing.
Additionally, make sure any outside pets have a warm place. Bring them in if possible. If not, extra bedding, blankets and water will be needed. Water will freeze, so make sure they have fresh, clean water.
