MURFREESBORO,  TN - In a harrowing incident early Wednesday morning, a family of five managed to escape unharmed from a duplex engulfed in flames on Daisy Court. The Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue team received the initial distress call at 3:19 a.m., rushing to the scene where moderate smoke and flames were visible from the rear of the duplex.

Tragically, two feline companions were unable to make it out of the burning structure, succumbing to the smoke and flames. Firefighters conducted a thorough search to ensure no other individuals were trapped inside.

The duplex suffered significant damage on one side, rendering it uninhabitable and displacing its residents. The attached unit sustained minor damage and remains occupied.

The Fire Marshal’s Office has commenced an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Preliminary reports suggest the origin may have been at the rear of the duplex.

Recognizing the urgent need for assistance, the Red Cross was promptly notified to provide shelter, clothing, and food for the displaced family of five. This collaborative effort aims to ease the immediate impact of the tragedy on those affected.

Emergency response personnel from various units, including Ladder 2, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Engine 9, Engine 3, Ladder 4, Safetys 1 and 2, Battalion Chiefs 1 and 2, Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD), and Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services (RCEMS), worked seamlessly to address the crisis.

As the investigation continues, the community remains grateful for the swift and coordinated efforts of the emergency responders, ensuring the safety of the family and minimizing the damage to the surrounding area.
