RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Last week, Tennesseans saw about a 7-cent rise in gas prices. This week, GasBuddy reports the Volunteer State has seen an 8.2 cents fall in the price per gallon for gas since last week, averaging $3.00 per gallon today. GasBuddy surveys 3,821 stations in Tennessee to calculate the average price. Prices in Tennessee are 24.9 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 24.5 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

According to the AAA auto club, gas prices in Rutherford County are lower than about 50% of the counties across the state, averaging $2.98 on Monday morning. Wilson and Bedford Counties are the only surrounding counties that have cheaper gas today. South of Murfreesboro, the average price of regular unleaded fuel is $2.96 in Bedford County. North of Murfreesboro in Wilson County, the average price is running $2.94 per gallon. West of the 'Boro, Williamson County has the highest priced gas in the state at $3.48 per gallon for regular unleaded. Northwest of Rutherford County sits Nashville, where the average gallon of regular unleaded is $3.13 per gallon.

The national average price of gasoline has fallen 7.0 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.38/g today. The national average is down 32.8 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 40.6 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country.
