RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN – Students in a brand new EMT program that got underway earlier this year at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology learned real-life lessons when visited by a Murfreesboro Police officer who saved the life of an infant about a month ago.

The TCAT class for Emergency Medical Technology listened closely as Officer Robert Baer talked about the importance of CPR when on the scene of a medical emergency. Baer shared the story of how he worked with a 911 operator to locate the car an infant and his parents were in after they pulled over on the side of the road... That was a portion of the 9-1-1 call that the mother of the child frantically made.

The EMT students sat quiet as they heard the dashcam footage of Baer performing CPR on 1-year-old Zaire Brown... Students in the EMT class will be learning CPR within the next few weeks.

TCAT President Patrick Wade talked about the reason for starting the EMT program this year...
