Number of Forensic Interviews at the Child Advocacy Center is Growing

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - The Child Advocacy Center in Murfreesboro is where forensic interviews take place for not only children who've been victims of sexual abuse, but also to children who were found to be living in an environment that is filled with illegal drug use. Before Child Advocacy Center's were communities like Rutherford and Cannon Counties, children were interviewed in the same law enforcement offices that child sex abuse suspects were taken to, which presented a number of problems for both the victim and the prosecutor...

 

Mandated Reporter - In Tennessee, everyone is a mandated reporter, which means if you know or suspect child abuse is happening, by law you're mandated to report your suspensions. Read more about the law here.You can report that you suspect child abuse or child sex abuse is taking place to state officials and remain anonymous by calling the Child Abuse Hotline at 1-877-237-0004 (See pdf for details). You can also report information to to Murfreesboro, Smyrna, LaVergne, Eagleville Police or to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office.

Upcoming Golf Fundraiser - An upcoming fundraiser that helps offset some of the operating costs of the Child Advocacy Center will take place on November 4th at the Smyrna Golf Course in Smyrna, TN. The Turkey Tee Off, which is an annual golf tournament, will begin with an 8 a.m. breakfast. The tee-off will be at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023. Slick Pig BBQ is helping the organization with a hearty lunch that is included with tournament fees. This year marks the 13th year for the Turkey Tee Off.
