(RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn.) WGNS has an update on a murder case that involves a man accused of killing his wife two years ago. Reports indicate the case will be before the Rutherford County courts in the near future.
Mrs. Toni Odom was only 27-years-old when she was killed. Prior to her death, the victim was married to the accused suspect for five years. Looking back, the two wed when Toni was only 22-years-old and the suspect was 45.
The murder occurred at the Odom home on Bivens Hill Road in the Readyville area. Deputies initially responded to the house after receiving a call about a shooting on September 27, 2021. Upon their arrival deputies discovered the victims lifeless body. Within a few hours detectives developed Irwin Odom, the victim's husband as the primary suspect.
Today, Irwin Odom is 52 -years of age and remains behind bars at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. Odom was booked into the county jail on the morning that followed his wife's death. He is facing a charge of first degree murder after allegedly killing his wife Toni.
Murfreesboro attorney Joshua Crain is representing the suspected gunman, who will appear before Judge Barry Tidwell on November 3, 2023. The upcoming court date is a status hearing and the future trial date has not yet been set.
