UPDATE: Murder Case of Rebecca Stockton in Murfreesboro Remains Open - Awaiting Suspects Extradition from Kentucky

Saleem Tamir Hamilton was 41 when arrested for Murfreesboro murder and turned 42 while jailed.

 

MURFREESBORO, TENN – Murfreesboro Police responded to a 9-1-1 call in regards to shots being fired on February 15th of this year at Puckett Creek Crossing Apartments. Upon MPD's arrival, officers located the body of Rebecca Christine Stockton on the floor of her apartment... That was Rutherford County Assistant District Attorney Trevor Lynch. Records show that Ms. Stockton was only 25-years-old when shot and killed.

Saleem Tamir Hamilton was apprehended on the morning of February 16th in Corbin, Kentucky, which was the morning following Stockton's death. The 42-year-old remains in custody of the Whitley County Detention Center in Kentucky and is awaiting extradition to Murfreesboro at this time.

The court case, which is The State of Tennessee Vs. Saleem Tamir Hamilton, remains open in the Rutherford County General Sessions Court. Detective Julie Cox with the Murfreesboro Police Department is the lead investigator for the murder case.

Stockton was survived by her parents, Randy and Chris Stockton and brother, Michael Stockton.
