The month of September was Good Neighbor Month and State Farm encouraged agents and employees across the nation to take action in their communities, unite their neighborhoods, and emphasize good neighbors who are making a positive impact.

Over 70 State Farm agents, team members and employees across Middle Tennessee took this to heart last month and volunteered nearly 400 hours partnering with one of four local Habitat for Humanity organizations.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville, Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County, Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury and Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity were the benefactors of this volunteer assistance for their September build days. In addition, State Farm donated over $90,000 in grant funding across these four organizations to assist with current home builds in Columbia, Gallatin, Murfreesboro and Nashville.

“Habitat for Humanity and State Farm share a similar mission to help people realize their dreams,” said Murfreesboro area Sales Leader Loren Walker with State Farm. “Throughout Middle Tennessee, our Habitat organizations do such great work and I am proud our agents and employees were able to support them during Good Neighbor Month.”

Observed annually on Sept. 28, Good Neighbor Day is a reminder that we all play a role in strengthening communities. President Jimmy Carter declared the day a national holiday in 1978 through a proclamation, which reads in part, “We are mindful that the noblest human concern is concern for others.”
