Murfreesboro, TN – Supporters of the Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity will take to the streets on September 16th for the 15th Annual Hammer Down for Habitat Poker Run. At least 60 vehicles will participate in the poker run this year.

A 26.2-mile Marathon Relay Run will also be a part of this year’s event. Organizer Ken Shook told WGNS that participants will walk away with a free shirt and a medal…

As for the car and bike enthusiast, they will be cruising in a 100-mile poker run. Dean Holland talked about the variety of vehicles at the event…

Funds raised at the Poker Run will go towards the cost of new affordable Habitat homes for local residents, who will help build their future home... That was Melissa Cross with Habitat for Humanity in Rutherford County. She told WGNS that Habitat homeowners have to go through a financial class once they’re approved to receive a loan to buy a Habitat home. By-the-way, Cross said the new homes are meant to be affordable for lower income residents. The monthly payment on a Habitat Home is typically around $800 per month.
