RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Schools in Rutherford County and across Middle Tennessee are opening next week, and hundreds of teaching positions still need to be filled. Many of those positions are in special education. JC Bowman, with Professional Educators of Tennessee, told WGNS... Again, Bowman highlighted that teacher attrition is still in crisis, and that schools in general must do a better job with teacher recruitment and retention.
Rutherford County Schools have at least 45-licensed teaching positions available, which is a small number when you look at the size of the county school system. School districts that are similar in size have well over 150 licensed teaching positions available.
