Brief History - With the future of Murfreesboro in mind, the city purchased the land that Old Fort Park sits on approximately 12-years before it was officially dedicated as a community park. The land was once a private farm that was purchased by the city in 1965. It wasn't until 1977 that it opened as a park. Back then, the 50-acre park opened with three picnic shelters, two playgrounds, two baseball fields, eight tennis courts, and lots of open space for families to enjoy.

Old Fort Golf Club was established in 1985. The 18-hole course runs alongside the Stones River and is part of Old Fort Park. It is one of the many activities inside the park that also features a massive tennis complex that opened in 2015. In fact, this month marks the 8th anniversary of the complex. In case you’re curious, the Adams Tennis Complex boasts 24-outdoor tennis courts and 8-indoor courts. The Greenway Trail also goes through the local park.
