MURFREESBORO, TN – A mother and six children made it out of their burning house safely on Wednesday afternoon. Murfreesboro Firefighters also rescued a family cat in the midst of the commotion of fighting the blaze.
The Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department responded to the house fire in the 300 block of Sadler Court around 3:26 p.m. on Wednesday. When firefighters arrived there was heavy smoke billowing from the structure. Fire crews also saw flames coming from the garage as they neared the home. One WGNS listener a block away told us, “You could see heavy smoke pouring out of the house as emergency sirens cut through an otherwise silent afternoon.”
Investigators with the Fire Marshal’s Office are still looking into the cause of the blaze that thankfully spared the life of a mother and six children. Meanwhile, the Heart of Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the family.
Reports indicate that fire crews with Rescues 1, 4, Engine 3, Ladders 4, 6, and 8, Safety 1 and 2, and Battalion Chiefs 1 and 2 assisted with the fire. Again, no one was injured in the blaze.
