There’s no doubt, being a brand-new parent can be a challenge on a daily and sometimes minute-by-minute basis. Those challenges can start during pregnancy and continue long after the birth of your new bundle of joy. The challenges that come after birth are in the form of post postpartum. During the workshop, perinatal and postpartum stages will be explored and the impact it has on both mothers and fathers.

On Friday, Feliciano will help those in attendance learn about new ways to understand the transition to parenthood, especially motherhood, in a less pathologizing way.  Pathologizing occurs when people - and even medical experts, mentally categorize someone experiencing normal human emotions after a hard or challenging time as abnormal.

This Friday’s workshop will conclude with the exploration of creating the internal and external supports and coping strategies needed to manage the transition to parenthood in a healthier way.

At the end of the event, there will be time for a Question & Answer session, which will be open to all in attendance.

While the event is free, those interested in attending are asked to register by visiting insightcounselingcenters.org. The workshop will be held at First United Methodist Church on Thompson Lane in Murfreesboro this Friday morning between 9:30 and 11:30 am.

Insight Counseling Centers’ Fifth Friday Mental Health Training Series is funded by the Robert & Anne Zelle Fund for Health of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.
