SMYRNA, Tenn. - TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center has achieved verification as an American College of Surgeons (ACS) Level III Trauma Center. TriStar StoneCrest was designated a Level III Trauma Center by the State of Tennessee Department of Health in 2018 and has become the first hospital in Tennessee to receive this additional, national verification.
“Our TriStar StoneCrest team embodies a deeply held devotion to the timely and expert treatment of our patients at all times,” says Lou Caputo, Chief Executive Officer for TriStar StoneCrest. We are honored by this recognition, which represents a culmination of our passionate dedication and hard work to provide the best possible care to those we serve.”
The ACS survey, conducted by a team of reviewers who are experts in the field of trauma and surgical critical care, confirmed that TriStar StoneCrest provides the hospital resources and outcomes necessary for trauma care and offers a broad spectrum of services to address the needs of injured patients. The verification process of the ACS includes a highly structured and extremely stringent review of all aspects of trauma care, including services and programs provided by the Emergency Department, Surgical Services, Diagnostic Imaging, Rehabilitation, Injury Prevention and Outreach Education.
“For patients, their families and the communities we serve, ACS verification confirms that TriStar StoneCrest has demonstrated a commitment to delivering high-quality trauma care by national standards,” said Willie Melvin, III, MD, Medical Director of Trauma Services. “We are extremely proud of the life-saving work our TriStar StoneCrest team provides.”
“This achievement reaffirms the commitment our physicians, nurses and staff have made to provide exceptional services to our community, including our most severely injured patients,” said Jennifer Beecham, RN, MHA, AEMT, Trauma Director at TriStar StoneCrest. “We are equipped to stabilize any injury and, in most cases, comprehensively treat patients close to home.”
In 2022, TriStar StoneCrest treated over 1,400 trauma patients injured in Middle Tennessee, and over five thousand trauma patients have been treated since the program's inception. For more information, visit TriStarStoneCrest.com.
