(MURFREESBORO) The popular WEDDING DRESSES ACROSS THE DECADES will be at the Woman's Club, 221 E. College Street in Murfreesboro, on Fridays through Sunday, June 2-18, 2023. The show will be open 10AM-5PM on Friday and Saturday, plus 1:00-5:00PM Sundays and the admission is $15.
Vintage gowns from the past 100+ years will be on display along with photos and human-interest stories that will make the wedding days come alive. During this exhibit,guests will have the rare opportunity to view items from Oaklands Mansion’s collection as well as elegant and fashionable wedding dresses worn by women from Murfreesboro and the surrounding area.
Woman's Club spokesperson Jackie Jenkins said, "The Woman’s Club is excited for this opportunity to partner with Oaklands Mansion. Please join us as we host this Exhibit, open to the public, and witness the evolution in fashion from different areas, eras and cultures as we transcend time to the modern-day bride."
The show will feature several beautiful wedding dresses from Woman's Club members and families, plus elegant gowns from Oaklands Mansion's collection will be spotlighted.
Oakland Mansion's Executive Director James Manning told NewsRadio WGNS, "The Woman's Club is not usually open to the public, but everyone can see inside this historic treasure at 221 E. College Street. Plus, both the historic Baskette House as well as Oaklands Mansion are attributed to architect Richard Sanders."
Step back in time and experience the common threads that weave lives together in the Heart of Tennessee by exploring women’s history, fashion history, cultural history and the history of our community. We anticipate over 30 gowns will be exhibited, some old favorites and ones that will become new favorites.
