You may recall news of a man who was reportedly driving a Dodge Hellcat who was allegedly drag racing, which resulted in a fatal accident that occurred in Nashville (See original story here). Now, police are wanting to talk to the driver of a second Dodge Charger after the death of a 34-year-old man on Monday evening, March 6, 2023.
The street racing event reportedly led to a fatal crash on Clarksville Pike that killed 34-year-old Jacob Barnhardt of Clarksville. According to Metro Police, two Dodge Chargers were traveling southbound at a speed believed to be in excess of 100 mph when one lost control and crossed into the northbound lanes striking a Honda Insight.
The second Charger, seen in the above surveillance photo on the left, continued inbound on Clarksville Pike. The Charger involved in the crash, to the right in the photo, was reportedly driven by 31-year-old Patrick Ewin, who was jailed on a vehicular homicide by recklessness charge for the death of Barnhardt. Ewin has since been released on bond.
Metro Police say that Barnhardt had to be extricated from the Honda. He was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died shortly after arrival. Ewin was transported to the hospital for minor injuries, then to jail.
