Rutherford County, TN - Oakland High School senior Emma Clonan has been awarded the 2023 Play Like A Girl Trailblazer Award. The Trailblazer award is given to women and businesses who are pioneering the future and changing the face of leadership in the Nashville Metro Area, which includes Murfreesboro and O-H-S. Clonan is an International Baccalaureate student at Oakland and is a member of the Oakland High School golf team.
“Play Like a Girl!” is on a bold mission to level the playing field by leveraging the skills girls gain from sports to propel young women into competitive, male-dominated careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). To accomplish this, Play Like a Girl programs harness the collective power of women volunteers and male allies to unite around gender inequality and the critical role they play in inspiring the next generation of women leaders.
Play Like a Girl has impacted over 50,000 girls worldwide since its founding in 2004, directly benefiting nearly 1,250 girls and women annually.
Oakland High school has congratulated Emma Clonan on her recent achievement.
