The Blackman football program has it's next head coach - Matt Kriesky. He comes to Murfreesboro from Centennial High School, where he's been the head coach since 2016.

Blackman has been looking to fill the vacancy since the January announcement from Chandler Tygard he was resigning to take the head job at Cleveland High School.

Kriesky is familiar with the program and Rutherford County sports.

Kriesky was among dozens who applied for the position. Matt is the twin brother of Riverdale head coach Will Kriesky.

He has spent some time as an assistant at Blackman between 2006 and 2007. He was also at Oakland between 2007-2013. Kriesky was also head coach for one-year at Forrest High before going to Centennial.

Justin Smith, Principal at Blackman High School, said they're excited to welcome Kriesky back to Blackman. "Since his early days on our faculty, Coach Kriesky has been known as someone with a strong sense of community and a tireless work ethic. He has a proven commitment to the development of all student-athletes - their academics, their character, their competitiveness, and their athletic skill," said Smith.

Blackman Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Scott Lawless said, "we look forward to the energy and passion that Matt Kriesky will bring to our football program."

Since taking over there in 2016, Centennial made three playoff appearances and Kriesky had a 38-38 record in six-years.
