(MURFREESBORO) Mayor Shane McFarland was on the WGNS' Action Line broadcast and talked about the three major downtown developments. Each would include a mix of condominiums and apartments, along with office space, retail on the first floor and parking.
He sighed and commented on the development where First Methodist Church once stood . . .
The mayor was more upbeat about the other two projects . . .
And Front Street at Cannonsburgh will undergo major changes . . .
And when he mentioned "the parking at Cannonsburgh", he was referring to the large gravel parking lot at the city owned complex. Construction changes in the area will be so significant, that he felt events at Cannonsburgh will probably be limited during that period of time.
Mayor McFarland noted, "City ordinances prohibit large gravel parking lots within the city, and if others can't have them--we should not either."
