(MURFREESBORO, TENN.) One of several shoplifting incidents that took place in the weeks leading up to Christmas occurred at Dick’s Sporting Goods. According to a Murfreesboro Police report, two men entered the store wearing puffy jackets that were possibly used to conceal merchandise.

A store manager said to police, “…there were multiple tags and sensors that were ripped off of clothing in the dressing room,” according to the official police report. That same report highlighted, "...Dick's Sporting Goods staff stated they believed the two subjects were wearing the stolen items under their clothing."

As Murfreesboro Police pulled into the store parking lot along Medical Center Parkway, two men were seen exiting the sporting goods store. One officer pulled up to the men and quickly detained them, pending a property theft investigation. During a "Probable Cause Search" of both suspects, police say they discovered articles of clothing with the tags still on them. Some of the items that were believed to have been swiped by the suspects were allegedly found in their pockets, while other items were allegedly worn out of the store, as if the items were there and/or on them when they went into the store.

When police confirmed the identity of the two suspects, ages 22 and 24, it was revealed that at least one of them had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Coincidently, the warrant was for “Theft of Property,” according to the MPD report.

A loss prevention worker from the store positively identified the merchandise found on the duo as items that were lifted from the store. Furthermore, "The clothing with the security tags ripped off of them had blue and yellow ink on them from the security tags, as well as a rip from where the tag was." Both men, who live in Murfreesboro, were told they could not return to the store and were in fact "...trespassed from all Dick's Sporting Goods locations." The two are now facing shoplifting charges.
