(MURFREESBORO) The moving Wreaths Across America tribute to veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice was held at 11:00 o'clock Saturday morning (12/17/2022) at the Stones River National Cemetery.
The Stones River Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution, Civil Air Patrol, Daughters of the American Revolution and others assisted in the program while honoring veterans with Remembrance Wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes.
Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, the organization has as its mission to Remember, Honor and Teach. That is carried out with coordinated ceremonies at National Park cemeteries in all 50 states, at sea, and abroad...1,200 different locations.
Coordinated by local volunteers, local groups worked to have wreaths donated to place on as many headstones of our fallen service members as possible. Over 2,000 wreaths were placed at Stones River National Cemetery.
Heart warming stories and memories were shared as the wreaths were placed on the local tombstones while TAPS was being played.
The mission of Wreaths Across America is to honor and to teach about the sacrifice our veterans made for the freedom we share.
