Amia’ Butler Joins Legal Aid Society as Development Manager

Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, Tennessee’s largest nonprofit law firm, announced Tuesday that Amia’ Butler has joined the firm as development manager (See picture above this article).

In this role, Butler will oversee Legal Aid Society’s fundraising, philanthropy and advocacy efforts, including its annual Campaign for Equal Justice, which supports Legal Aid Society’s mission to advance access to justice across Middle Tennessee and the Cumberland Plateau. 
 
In Murfreesboro, the Legal Aid Society is located at 526 North Walnut Street (Suite 2852).
 
Butler brings over seven years of experience in fundraising, public relations, program coordination, event planning, facilitation and volunteer management. She comes to Legal Aid Society from North Carolina-based Push Consulting, where she served as a digital marketing strategist.

Waller, executive director of Legal Aid Society. “Not only does she bring valuable experience in fundraising and program coordination, she’s passionate about the work we do to empower marginalized and vulnerable communities by providing access to free legal services.”
 
Butler’s previous experience also includes serving as a pro bono program coordinator for Legal Aid of North Carolina, where she worked with more than 300 attorneys and organized continued learning events. In Nashville, she has also coordinated community programs and organized events for vulnerable communities through local nonprofit The Way, Truth and Enlightenment Institute.
 
She is a graduate of Austin Peay State University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in public relations in 2016 and a master’s degree in corporate communications in 2018. While there, she served as a student life graduate research assistant, leading a university-wide fundraising initiative for the YMCA After Breast Cancer program and helping the YMCA surpass its fundraising goal by 20 percent.
