In Tennessee, the average price of regular unleaded fuel is starting the week off at $3.30 per gallon. Currently, the Volunteer State is ranked as the 10th least expensive market for gas.

RUTHERFORD CO. - Rutherford County as a whole, which includes Murfreesboro, Smyrna, LaVergne and all of the rural gas stations in Lascassas, Eagleville, Christiana and Rockvale, is recording an average price of $3.29 per gallon. Outside of the rural gas stations in Rutherford County and specifically in Murfreesboro, Smyrna and LaVergne, the average price-per-gallon rings in at $3.14 per gallon.

Murfreesboro currently has the lowest average price of gas at $3.03 per gallon. LaVergne comes in second lowest, at $3.17 per gallon. This week it looks as if Smyrna has the highest average price of gas at $3.23 per gallon on Monday for regular unleaded.

PREMIUM - Premium fuel prices in Murfreesboro, Smyrna and LaVergne are between $3.52 per gallon to $4.19 per gallon. Murfreesboro’s average price for premium unleaded is $3.68 per gallon. LaVergne’s average price for premium fuel is $3.90 per gallon. Smyrna has an average price of $3.93 per gallon for premium unleaded.

NEARBY - Meanwhile, neighboring counties like Davidson are seeing an average of $3.32 per gallon for regular unleaded while Williamson County has one of the state’s highest prices at $3.65 per gallon. The cheapest fuel in Tennessee can be found in Henry County, where regular unleaded is averaging $3.05 per gallon.  Henry County is home to Paris, Tennessee.

DIESEL - The national average price of diesel has declined by $2.39 cents in the last week and stands at $5.28 per gallon. In Rutherford County, Tennessee, diesel prices are ringing up at $4.75 to $4.79 per gallon.

NATIONAL - The national average price of gasoline has fallen 4.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.72/g today. The national average is down 3.0 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 34.4 cents per gallon higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country.

"For the third consecutive week, we've seen the national average price of gasoline decline, and while it's good news for most regions with a continued drop in prices, the Northeast is bucking the trend and seeing a noticeable jump due to tight supply," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "The national average is closing in on the previous low from September, which was interrupted when refinery issues caused prices to skyrocket in the West and Great Lakes. With those issues addressed, the West has seen prices plummet, including a nearly 90 cent per gallon decline in California in less than a month. Compare that to the Northeast, where prices have jumped some 10-25 cents per gallon, demonstrating there's much regionality to current gasoline price trends. Add in diesel prices that remain high amidst extremely tight supply, and there's definitely some challenges that lie ahead."
