(MURFREESBORO, TENN) The Middle Half will take place this weekend and the route for runners and joggers will go around the downtown Murfreesboro square… That was Rachel Singer with the Parks Department. This year marks the end of an era, as this year’s race will be the final run. The half marathon will take place this Saturday, October 8, 2022, with a start time of 7AM.  More than 1,200 runners are participating in this year’s 13.1-mile run.

This is the 15th year for The Middle Half to take place, which was skipped only one year during the COVID Pandemic. On Saturday, participants will pay tribute to Miles Tate, the event founder who passed away suddenly in April of this year.

Over 15-years-ago, Miles and Melinda Tate felt that Murfreesboro needed a half marathon to springboard the running community.  Since that time, the Murfreesboro Half Marathon (“The Middle Half”) has been a fixture in our community with the focus on the health and well-being of runners from all over Tennessee and beyond.  Many residents have their own inspirational stories and can attest that this race has been an amazing event with lots of memories for everyone.

But all good things do have a season, and with the passing of Miles Tate, race organizers believe it’s time for this race’s season to come to an end. Miles’ legacy will continue, and his mark on our community will be forever remembered and cherished as the race was truly a community event that the entire city embraced and made great.
