An assault involving a 15-year-old victim is being investigated by police in Murfreesboro. Detectives say the assault took place on February 13, 2022 at the Stones River Town Centre off of Old Fort Parkway.

The assault occurred as a teen was hanging out with a group of friends and apparently - a bouncy ball is what led to the alleged attack.

When the 15-year-old threw the ball, it landed “near another group of people,” according to Murfreesboro Police. An unidentified male headed over to the teen and accused him of trying to hit him with the ball. At that point, authorities say the unknown subject punched the 15-year-old in the face and then ran from the scene.

Detectives have since released photos captured on a security camera of a male whom they labeled a “Person of Interest.”
