(MURFREESBORO) Here is an update on the fatal fire that occured around 12:30AM early this past Sunday morning (2/27/2022) on Isis Court. At this time we know the man who died was in his late 50s and that oxygen tanks were in the home.
NewsRadio WGNS spoke with Murfreesboro Fire-Rescue Assistant Chief and Fire Marshal Carl Peas who said there were reports from neighbors about an explosion, but the investigation is underway and they are unable to confirm anything until the medical examiners report is released. Again, it was noted that oxygen tanks were in the structure.
When units from Murfreesboro Fire-Rescue arrived on-the-scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames. In fact, the blaze was so intense that two neighboring homes were also damaged.
As reported earlier on WGNS, two other occupants of the home escaped the inferno before emergency units arrived. They were taken to the ER with smoke inhalation and other injuries.
Little is left of the structure, and the home was a total loss.
Isis Court is off the New Salem Road, near River Rock Baptist Church. Reports of neighbors feeling and hearing explosion brought several persons out into the streets during the early Sunday morning pre-dawn hours.
