Thompson Lane construction will be between NW Broad Street and Memorial Boulevard, an area which is heavily populated by multiple subdivisions, three schools and at least three churches. The project will be a growing pain for area residents hat may last throughout the next couple of years...

Reports indicate construction to widen Thompson Lane will take a minimum of four years to complete – from start to finish. While that may sound like a lengthy wait for a road to be widened, the city first proposed widening Thompson Lane to the state in 2005.

Looking back, Thompson Lane was built in the mid to late 1960's and completed in the early '70's. Needless to say, Murfreesboro was much smaller when that road first opened for motorist. Records show that the city had a population count of just over 26,300 residents in 1970. Today, that number stands at over 160,000 residents.
