A local school bus driver who has transported some of the most valuable and meaningful passengers to area parents, was recognized for his dedication and service to the community.

Joseph “Joby” Givens was nominated for the Bus Driver Hall of Fame on January 26th. Givens drives for the Rutherford County Schools.

The Tennessee School Bus Driver Hall of Fame award was created to recognize and honor drivers who show professional integrity and demonstrate extraordinary commitment to safely transporting Tennessee school children. The honor was bestowed upon Givens by the Tennessee Association of Pupil Transportation.

Givens has served the Rutherford County Schools as a bus driver for 50-years and continues today.

Induction into the Hall of Fame represents one of the highest honors that the Tennessee Association of Pupil Transportation can bestow on an individual. Honorees must meet the highest standards of personal and professional integrity, including distinguished service to the school children in their school district.
