Rockvale and Eagleville renewed a decades long rivalry Saturday night some 50-years in the making. The Rockets won both contests but the real winner was the community. A near capacity crowd filled the gym at Rockvale to watch these two teams play for the first time since January 11th, 1972. That was the last time they played a contest before Rockvale High was shuttered. But when it was re-established in 2019, administrators and community members wanted to bring the communities together despite the size difference. The Battle for 99 is expected to be an annual event, with Eagleville hosting the games next year. If you missed the games, WGNS Primetime Sports was there.
