Woman DIES...."Domestic Assault" Charges Could Change

(MURFREESBORO)  Here's an update on a domestic assault that occured at 3:40PM Thursday afternoon (12/23/2021) on Tedder Boulevard, just off Haynes Drive. On Friday (12/24/2021) Savannah Latham passed away from those injuries. 

Murfreesboro Police PIO Larry Flowers explained, "22-year old Andre Tate and Latham were having an argument in the driveway of the woman's home. While the 19-year-old woman was sitting on the trunk of Tate’s 2015 Dodge Charger, Tate reportedly got inside the vehicle and accelerated, causing her to fall off.  She hit her head and suffered severe injuries."

Since the injuries were so serious, the Murfreesboro Police' Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) and detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) were called to the scene to investigate.

After the incident, 22-year old Andre Tate was booked on charges of aggravated domestic assault at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. His bond was set for $50,000.  Tate's hearing is set for the Rutherford County General Session Court on February 24, 2022.

Since Savannah Latham has now died from those injuries, the District Attorney's office is going over the evidence to determine what direction the case must now follow.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - A Murfreesboro man is in custody after his girlfriend fell off the trunk of his car, hitting her head on the pavement on Thursday, Dec. 23rd.

22-Year-old Andre Tate is charged with aggravated domestic assault of his 19-year-old girlfriend.

Murfreesboro Police Department officers responded to the 2300 block of Tedder Blvd. around 3:40 p.m. yesterday. 

The preliminary investigation reveals Tate, and his girlfriend were arguing in the driveway. 

While the 19-year-old woman was sitting on the trunk of Tate’s 2015 Dodge Charger, he got inside and accelerated, causing her to fall off.  She suffered severe head injuries. 
The woman is in critical condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Because of the severity of her injuries, the Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) and Criminal Investigations Division (CID) detectives were called to the scene to investigate.

The investigation is still active.

Tate is being housed at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.  He has a hearing Feb. 24 in Rutherford County General Session Court.
