Rutherford County, TN - Due to the total requests for assistance now exceeding all Rutherford County Rental Relief funds available, the program is temporarily closing its application portal to new applications and additional funding requests.

The portal will close for an unknown period beginning Monday, December 6 at 4:30 pm Central Time.

The County received two rounds of Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) funding totaling $15 million from the U.S. Department of Treasury.  To date, the program has helped 1,288 households and paid out an estimated $10.5 million.

“The tremendous response for this program demonstrates just how great the need is in Rutherford County,” said Mayor Bill Ketron. “We hope to be able to assist more households in the future.”

Rutherford County Rental Relief will continue to disburse the remaining $4.5 million in assistance for applications currently under review and the pending applications started before the temporary closure date.

The application portal will reopen when new funding is made available from the U.S. Department of Treasury.  The County does not currently have a timeline for the new funding.

Applicants That Have Not Yet Started an Application

Applicants that have not yet started an application in the system must do so prior to the deadline of Monday, December 6, at 4:30 pm Central Time. Applicants who start an application prior to the deadline will have 21 days to complete it. The program will attempt to contact the applicant three times over the course of the 21 days, but if the applicant does not submit during this time period their application will be deemed inactive.

Previously Submitted Applications

Submitted applications currently being reviewed will continue to be processed until all program funds run out. With the funding left, we anticipate we will continue to disburse assistance over the next two months to submitted applications already in the queue.
