A special Veterans Day ceremony took place outside on the east side of the Rutherford County Courthouse on Thursday (11/11/2021). The event was held on the semi-circle bricked area with the speakers under the roofed entrance to the historic antebellum structure.

That was Robert Masek, retired from the US Air Force.

WGNS covered the Murfreesboro Veterans Day Memorial Service “LIVE” on Veterans Day. This year marked the 25th Anniversary for the annual event that was first started by Elsie Stem.

William Thomes, who is retired from the U.S. Navy, was the Master of Ceremonies.

Retired Lt. Colonel Austin Maxwell was the keynote speaker.

Again, this year marked the 25th Veterans Day Memorial Service to take place in front of the Rutherford County Courthouse.

Although the weather was blustery, cloudy with temps in the 50s--the rain held off until the final minutes. At the conclusion, those in attendance saw once of the quickest clean-ups and audience dispersions in the 25-year history of the tribute.
