This Halloween season brings with it a hint of COVID-19, as parents remind their young ghosts and goblins to social distant themselves from others. That said, the annual candy giving on the historic Rutherford County square has been canceled, based on CDC guidelines for community trick or treating events with large crowds. However, that won't keep neighborhood doorknockers at bay. 

Brent Carter with Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services told WGNS that parents need to keep a watchful eye on their youngsters...



This year, Halloween (October 31, 2021) falls on a Sunday.

Whenever Halloween falls on a Sunday, or any weeknight for that matter, WGNS receives a high volume of calls asking if the city or county plans to reschedule trick-or-treating. To answer that question in advance, the answer is no. Government officials with the City of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County don't change trick-or-treat dates. Halloween will remain on October 31st.

Simply put, Halloween is on Halloween and it is up to parents to decide if they want their children to knock on doors on a school night or to remain at home.
