Helping senior citizens is what the SCAN organization focuses on in Rutherford County and Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh is thankful for the Atmos Energy donation.

Sheriff Fitzhugh received a check from the utility provider earlier this week. The check was presented by Atmos Operations Supervisor James Robbins.

The Sheriff's Office reports the check will be used to provide Thanksgiving dinners for senior citizens enrolled in the Sheriff’s Senior Citizens Awareness Network (SCAN).

The non-profit is operated by volunteers who help seniors with their safety needs. Many of those seniors live alone and do not have family to check on them or help them with important needs.

Sgt. Gary Herron presented a plaque of appreciation to Atmos Operations Assistant Kendra Reasoner thanking them for Atmos’ continuing support of SCAN.
