A Cessna single engine plane has crashed near the Murfreesboro Airport on DeJarnette Lane. It happened this (Monday) morning just before 9am on DeJarnette in front of Providence Christian Academy. The road was closed for a time while emergency personnel were on the scene.
Murfreesboro Police spokesman Larry Flowers reports the pilot was alert and talking when taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. In fact, he was treated and released the next day (7/27/2021).
Authorities say that the pilot did an amazing job with the emergency landing. He had a mechanical issue and was attempting to land on DeJarnette Lane, when he hit a line that crossed the roadway and then clipped a school zone sign, all causing a hard landing.
The FAA and NTSB are investigating the crash.
