The National Weather Service confirms a tornado touched down in Smyrna, damaging dozens of homes in the Rock Spring Road area on Thursday.

They report a brief EF-1 tornado touched down between La Vergne and Smyrna and moved northeast through residential areas, with damage to homes in the Addie Drive, Woodburn Drive and Orpha Drive areas. Dozens of homes sustained minor to moderate roof damage. 

The tornado lifted just  just before reaching I-24 and StoneCrest Medical Center. Another tornado briefly touched down in the Gladeville area from the same apparent storm. It was rated an EF-0 after surveys from NWS meterologists.

PREVIOUSLY REPORTED

More than a dozen houses in Smyrna sustained damage after a tornado warned storm pushed through north Rutherford County Thursday night.

Smyrna Police reported there were no injuries from the storm which downed power lines and trees just off Rock Springs Road west of the interstate.

The damage was most substantial in the Addie Drive, Woodburn Drive and Orpha Drive areas.

There is another risk of severe weather on Saturday here in Middle Tennessee.
