What has become Murfreesboro’s iconic Memorial Day salute will return Memorial Day Weekend May 29-31, continuing a thirteen-year tradition. The Healing Field Flags of Remembrance hosted by The Exchange Club of Murfreesboro is an inspiring formation of U.S. flags and will be seen at 265 West Thompson Lane, Murfreesboro, TN 37129 next to First United Methodist Church.
“Those who have visited earlier Healing Field events know what to expect and will not be disappointed.” John Stracener, Project Chair, said. “First time visitors are in for an awe-inspiring experience.” A grassy field posted with hundreds of U.S. flags presents an unforgettable panorama of red, white, and blue that has earned the description “healing “as part of its name.”
Flag sales can be dedicated to the memory of a living or deceased veteran, a front-line worker, or anyone chosen to be honored. The flag can be purchased in advance of the event or during the event at the field. In addition to individual flag sales, various levels of corporate sponsorships are available.
Proceeds from the event benefit the youth, community service and Americanism projects of the Exchange Club of Murfreesboro.
“We invite all to visit and support the Healing Field Flags of Remembrance display. Walk among the ordered rows of Old Glory where each 3’ x 5’ flag waves atop an 8’ white staff in a stirring formation. Walking amid the flags, we remember and reflect upon those who have defended our nation and protected our way of life.” Gayle Passovoy, co-chair said.
