The Nashville Metro Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting where the reported shooter claims the shooting was in self-defense. Homicide Unit detectives say the incident occurred this past Friday night (2/5/2021).

Dead is 20-year-old Timothy Wilks. He was fatally shot in the parking lot of Urban Air on Old Hickory Boulevard in Hermitage.

When officers responded to the scene just before 9:30 Friday night, David Starnes Jr. was there and admitted to shooting Wilks.

Detectives were told that Wilks and a friend were participating in a “prank” robbery as part of a YouTube video and approached a group of people, including 23-year old Starnes, with butcher knives. Starnes said he was unaware of the prank and shot Wilks in defense of himself and others.
