MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (Nov. 30, 2020) – Last Wednesday, the Middle Point Landfill team completed its recent planned infrastructure project adding 40 new and replacement gas wells at the site. Earlier this year, Middle Point announced the installation of 30 new or replacement gas wells, and last week shared that an additional 10 wells would be installed by Thanksgiving.

The updates to the gas well system are part of a more than $1.4 million investment this fall to help enhance operations and further control the potential for off-site odor from the Landfill.

Over the long holiday weekend, an existing onsite air compressor stopped working, affecting the amount of gas the landfill gas system could collect. We expect repairs to the compressor to be completed by Thursday, Dec. 3. In the meantime, an interim solution has been mobilized to support gas collection until the primary unit can be repaired.
