Property owners in the LaVergne and Smyrna area are about to see an increase in what they pay for property taxes, due to increased property values. These increases will be felt in 2022.

Rutherford County Property Assessor Rob Mitchell told WGNS NEWS that property values are indeed up and that is especially true in the area closest to Nashville.

Other areas that will see an increase in propety values are homes and land that sit at the Williamson County line along Highway 96 and between I-840 and Eagleville.

State statutes require the assessor’s office to review and inspect a third of properties in the county or about 35,000 properties annually as they near 4-year property evaluations. Currently, the median value increase is close to 15% since 2018. If values hold and new buyers continue to pick Rutherford County, property owners could see another 15% property value increase between now and 2022.

If you beleive your property value is incorrect, you can appeal it before the county in June.
