As nonprofits continue to provide services to their clients, one thing that has been impacted is their ability to host their annual fundraisers. This is the case with The Journey Home. Cancelling two important fundraisers, Pickin’ at Puckett’s and Costumes & Cocktails, the nonprofit is hosting a Fall Fish Fry at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 3145 N. Thompson Lane on October 24th from 11am to 1pm.
Attendees can come and enjoy a delicious meal with all the trimmings. The event will accommodate those who would like to attend by offering an outside venue with social distancing or others may want to get their order as a carryout. The meal will include fried fish, white beans, coleslaw, and hushpuppies. Adults can eat for $15 and a child’s plate is $5. Tickets can be purchased online (https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/fall-fish-fry) or the day of the event.
The Journey Home was founded in 2006 as a Christian Outreach serving the homeless and disadvantaged of Rutherford County. The housing program currently operates 25 supportive housing units serving 50 to 60 people on any given night. Additionally, the agency houses about 60 families in marketplace rental homes annually. The Outreach Center provides day to day resources connecting people and engaging them at their point of need. Transformation happens through sustainable, long-term investment of both the individual and the community at large.
