The COVID-19 Unemployment numbers are back up in the Volunteer State. Between August 22nd and August 29th, there were 12,035 new unemployment claims.
Despite the increase of new claims, the numbers of persons filing for unemployment for the first time since the start of the pandemic is down considerably compared to the week ending on April 4, 2020. The Department of Labor & Workforce Development report that 116,141 people filed for unemployment between March 29th and April 4th.
To date, 818,149 unemployment claims were filed since March 15, 2020. Out of over 818-thousand claims, 281,761 were approved and paid. So far, over $265-million has been paid through the Coronavirus Relief Fund.
ACTIVE COVID-19 Unemployment Claims:
Davidson County: 34,212 are currently receiving unemployment
Rutherford County: 10,054 are currently receiving unemployment
Williamson County: 4,069 are currently receiving unemployment
Bedford County: 1,060 are currently receiving unemployment
Cannon County: 218 are currently receiving unemployment
