Friday, LGBTQ Victory Fund – the only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ people to public office – endorsed Brandon Thomas for Tennessee State House. The endorsement signals Victory Fund’s confidence that Thomas is well-positioned to win the House race and will be a strong voice for equality once elected. Thomas would be the first out LGBTQ member of the Tennessee General Assembly if he wins his race.

LGBTQ people remain severely underrepresented in government nationwide – holding just 0.15 percent of elected positions despite representing at least 4.5 percent of the U.S. population, according to Gallup. As an out LGBTQ leader, Thomas will be an unwavering voice for equality in the Tennessee General Assembly. His priorities in office will include expanding Medicaid, criminal justice reform, and establishing a worker’s bill of rights.
